Engineering Support and Process Development
For most of Azimuth CNC's projects, we provide some type of engineering support, ranging from updating models to complete turnkey process development. We can put together a complete package: machine tool, cutting tools, modeling, cnc programming, software, training and technical support to produce an approved part and have it all installed in your facility. Or we can revise the part model per your engineering changes. Or anything in between.
Some of the projects we've worked on include:
Forging dies. Many of our customers have old tooling that needs to be replaced but no CAD model. We can create the CAD model, update the tooling design, create the tooling models and machine new tooling.
Replacement parts. If you have old equipment for which replacement parts are no longer available, we can make you a new part.
Process consultation. If you have a difficult project that requires some extra expertise to maximize efficiency and minimize cycle time, we can help with process development: Machining strategies, fixturing, CNC programming, tooling selection and more.
Specialized projects like 3D Paintings. We can do whatever unique project you have. For example, for the Art Institute of Chicago, we worked on a project to help sight impaired people experience classic artwork. Working from famous paintings we created 3D models, then cut them into plastic and included captions in Braille to produce a "painting" sight-impaired people can touch.

Design & Engineering Example
Part: Forging dies for chisel
Material: Tool Steel
Several members of our staff have many years of experience in the forging die industry, so we can offer extensive expertise to our forging customers. For a hand tool manufacturer, we worked from a 2D drawing and created a 3D part model. Next, we modeled the forging die, including the trimmer, punch and coin dies. Finally, we machined the dies on our CNC machines and mounted in a new die set for a complete new tooling package.
